To accredit means to believe. An accreditation process looks closely, carefully checks and responsibly assesses whether others are competent, can do a good job and have earned trust. Accreditations are used to assess and regularly monitor the technical competence, reliability, independence and integrity of conformity assessment bodies in the public interest.

Since January 24, 2024, we have been a drinking water testing laboratory with the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) under the test laboratory identifier PL D-PL-22062-01-00 accredited according to DIN EN ISO 17025:2018. DAkkS: “The testing laboratory fulfills the requirements according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 to perform the conformity assessment activities listed in this annex.”

It has always been possible to be accredited as a sampling body under the old accreditation standard, but there was no precise wording. Since the new ISO 17025 came into force, according to which all testing and calibration laboratories are accredited, it has been clarified in the definitions that, in addition to tests and calibrations, sampling in connection with a subsequent test or calibration are also laboratory activities eligible for accreditation (Section 3.6).

We have taken the clarification in ISO 17025, which was published in March 2018, as an opportunity to adapt our quality management to the requirements of 17025 and strive for our own accreditation. On September 30, 2021, the month of our 10th company anniversary, we submitted the accreditation application to the DAkkS in Berlin. Exactly 2 years and 4 months later, we received a positive accreditation decision.

In addition to the sampling of drinking water, our accreditation also covers raw water and swimming and bathing pool water as well as physico-chemical tests during on-site sampling (so-called on-site parameter determinations).

Examinations in the following areas are accredited:

Sampling of raw water, drinking water and swimming and bathing pool water, physico-chemical tests for water sampling (raw water; swimming and bathing pool water), sampling of raw and drinking water in accordance with the Drinking Water Ordinance.

The accredited audits are regularly reviewed by the DAkkS in the form of monitoring and reaccreditation audits.

Accreditation goes far beyond certification – it is the highest quality standard (certified by a third party) that a company can achieve.

Accreditation is the

“Confirmation by a national accreditation body that a conformity assessment body meets the requirements laid down in harmonized standards and, where applicable, additional requirements in order to carry out a specific conformity assessment activity.”

Definition of accreditation according to Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008
